Antarctic Peninsula- Marguerite Bay:
Here are some photographs of my time at the Argentine Islands and the Marguerite Bay Area in the Antarctic Peninsula during 1976 and 1977. Many of these locations are also mentioned in the novels. The author spent most of his time at the British Base on Argentine Islands, where spent several months looking for minerals on Galindez and the surrounding Islands. He was also transferred by ship to locations all along the Southern Antarctic Peninsula and made landings to examine and sample the rocks. These scientific investigations are described in detail in his Aston University PhD thesis awarded in 1978, “The Metalliferous Mineralization in the Western Antarctic Peninsula.” The PhD can be obtained through the British Lending Library or on this web site by following the link: https://www.lytlefeara.org//product/antarctica/
Some of the localities which the author visited to study the rock for metalliferous mineralization include: Northern Peninsula – Neumayer Channel, Argentine Islands, Anvers Island, Anagram Islands. Southern Peninsula – Adelaide Island, Rothera Point, Neny Fjord, Jones Ice Shelf, Red Rock Ridge and Prospect Point.
