New Zealand
The author has a strong affinity for New Zealand and frequently makes visits to the country. His primary interests lie in exploring the mountains and uninhabited regions that are untouched by the influence of industrial society.
The photographs captured during his most recent trip were taken in April 2017, starting from Christchurch on the South Island. From there, he embarked on a journey that took him to various destinations including Hanmer Springs, Arthur Pass, Fox Glacier, Haast Pass, Hawea, Omarama, and finally back to Christchurch. Throughout the trip, the weather displayed a mix of sunny and warm conditions, as well as overcast and cool moments. Despite these fluctuations, the author found driving to be a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The South Island boasts an array of breathtaking features such as snow-capped mountains, glaciers, deep valleys, and lakes. Hanmer Springs, with its thermal pools, offers a serene escape from the pressures of modern society.
Arthur Pass and Fox Glacier are both awe-inspiring locations. However, the author’s personal favorite is the scenic beauty found along Haast Pass, particularly the area surrounding Mt Brewster. On a particularly warm day, the author found solace in Cameron Flats, basking in the pleasant sunshine for several hours. However, as the wind picked up, a refreshing icy chill permeated the air, adding an exhilarating touch to the experience. Despite some low cloud cover, Mt Brewster stood out prominently in the middle distance. Overall, the day was incredibly enjoyable and left a lasting impression on the author.
