Photographs taken in Russia and Italy in 2011, 2012, amicably tarried there.

Italy and Russia

  1. The author captured a series of photographs during his visits to Russia in 2011 and Italy in 2012, which are featured in his novels “The Devil can be kind to some people” and “The Girl from Posolskoe.” Notably, he spent a significant amount of time in Foligno during the 1980s, residing with his father and stepmother, Maria Carra, in her apartment overlooking one of the main Piazzas.
  2. Additionally, the author explored Anzio in 2012, where he visited the War Museum and the British War Cemetery. The staff at the War Museum left a lasting impression on him, as they were exceptionally helpful and treated him with respect and compassion. Despite his intentions to attend the seventieth anniversary remembrance of the landings on 22 January 2014, unforeseen circumstances prevented him from doing so.
  3. The author had hoped to reunite with some of his father’s old war comrades during the event, but unfortunately, this did not come to fruition. The anecdote about the cat on a boat in Anzio harbor, as depicted in “The Devil can be kind to some people,” is based on a true story. These photographs hold particular significance as they visually represent the locations described in the author’s novels.
